United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have moved quickly to implement changes brought about by the Supreme Court's decision invalidating the definition of marriage in the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). After that decision, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano directed her agency to "review immigration visa petitions filed on behalf of a same-sex spouse in the same manner as those filed on behalf of an opposite-sex spouse.”
