According to a report on CNBC.com, the revamped HealthCare.gov site enrolled 29,000 persons in the first two days of operations after announcing a round of fixes. This is in stark contrast to the 26,000 who enrolled during the entire rollout month of October, when the site was bug-ridden and unwieldy.

"Data still being scrubbed, but looks like we will be 29,000 for enrollment in federal exchange for the first two days of site improved site," a source familiar with enrollment numbers told CNBC.

On Monday and Tuesday following Sunday's announced retooling of HealthCare.gov, the site handled more than 1.7 million visitors, about 80 percent higher than a week ago.

However, even with the boost in usage and enrollments, the Obamacare sign-up tool is running way short of expectations. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) originally projected 1.2 million enrollees by the end of November, with an additional 2.12 million signing up in December.
